A single gear cannot transmit motion and power from one shaft to another shaft, at least two or more gears must be meshed to each other to transmit motion and power. Gear train is a mechanical system formed by mounting gears on shafts and shafts are supported by a frame to mesh gears together and this combination of two or more gears which are mesh together, used to transmit motion and power from one shaft to another shaft. It is used to achieve large and different velocity ratio in small area or space, for increasing or reducing speed, transmit motion at same speed and to change rotational direction of driven shaft. Different types of gears are used in gear train, like spur gear, helical gears and bevel gears. Gear selection for gear train is depend upon various different aspect like position of shaft axes, velocity of gear, increasing or reducing speed, etc. Gear trains are used in various machines and there is large number of examples like in automobile, gearbox, lathe machine, milling machine, clock, toys, etc.
